Hi All!  Who doesn’t love beauty… on a budget!  This is a guest post from a fellow blogger and friend Gina Kirk at isshereally.com.  Gina has been blogging for a couple years now and I have been following her journey on her site.  She is Momma on a mission to feed her kids well and live debt free.  A woman after my own heart.  Check out this post on how to stay on a budget and stay beautiful!  I interviewed Gina not too long ago.  You can check out that interview here!

Alright, I know what you’re thinking, “beauty on a budget.. no way”. Guess what? I’m here to tell you.. way!

For those of you who know me well enough, I am not a beauty queen. I have a few essential products that I love and other than that I could care less. However, I do have a few tricks up my sleeve to stick within budget!

Must Have #1 – Loreal Mascara   Price: $10

mascara

YES! I am a mascara queen. This is the one and only mascara that I love (I’ve tried every single one, seriously). This one works amazing, and it ALWAYS goes on sale. If you’ve got a CVS or Walgreens local to you, keep an eye out for BOGO on this brand.. I always always always buy it on sale, who wants to pay over $10 for mascara? Not me! I’ve also got this secret little tip for you, as long as you promise not to go batshit crazy when I share it.. ready? When your mascara is getting low – add a couple of drops of distilled water and mix with the wand, you will literally get another solid week out of this. Now, I know some people freak out about eye makeup but I’m telling you, I’ve done this for years, and it works wonders (especially in a pinch!) Bottom line: There’s is no need for crazy expensive mascara! Find the cheapo brand that works for you – and make it last!

Must Have #2 – Alba Organic Acne Wash     Price: $9

face wash

I absolutely LOVE this stuff. I want to know whats going on my skin, and this wash has the perfect combo of organic soothing ingredients for me personally without drying my face to smithereens. Plus, it’s available at Target, and there’s always coupons or sales for the Alba line, bonus! Some of you might think this is gross (ha) but, since having the baby (in December) I stopped washing my face with soap daily, so this lasts a super long time. My skin is so much clearer. I use soap probably 3x per week, and the rest of the time just water. No, my face isn’t loaded with blackheads. It actually has never felt better!

Must Have #3 – Lip Gloss     Price: $10

lip gloss

I know I already claimed the title of mascara queen, but I seriously need to claim the lip gloss/chapstick queen crown as well. If there is a lip gloss or balm out there. I have tried it! Proud of it? No, but cut me some slack it was in my pre-War on Debt days when I would buy 5 per week.. I know. Anyway, this stuff is super moisturizing, tastes good, shines great, and the colors aren’t crazy bright. In my opinion, worth it! They’re going on sale all the time for 2/$15 too, bonus!

Must Have #4 – Pure Organic Argan Oil – $18

argan oil

This stuff… AMAZING. I purchased this in February and have not bought a skin moisturizer, lotion OR hair product since. I use it on my face and body, it’s the best moisturizer I’ve ever used! And because a little bit goes a long way, it lasts a long time.

Must Have #5 – HAIR!!    Price: $50

Yes, it’s true, I indulge in getting my hair done every now and then. But I have found a way to make it a lot more friendly on my wallet. First, I have to admit this did take some salon bouncing until I found the right place. BUT, my ultimate trick is to get my hair done, but don’t get it dried or styled. I pay $50 for a shampoo and color and that is one hell of a DEAL if I do say so myself. Adding on a dry and style can cost between $25-40 depending on the salon. Next time you go to get yours done, call ahead and ask what the price is without the blow dry and style. I guarantee you’ll be surprised!

Last but not least – if you’re shopping for products, look for a coupon first! So many people brush this off, as if couponing takes so much time. I’m telling you – it doesn’t! If you or a relative get the Sunday paper, have them save the coupons for you! The Sunday coupons are always packed with beauty goods. And if you’re out and about you can download my favorite app: SnipSnap and simply search for a virtual coupon, by store. It’s that easy!

So, what are your beauty on a budget tips? I’m very content with what I’m spending on my beauty, and I like to keep it to a minimum. I’d love to hear how you save, leave me some tricks in the comments below!
